Are you and your organization still on the fence as to whether you should upgrade to TFS 2013 or Visual Studio Online (VSO)? The recent Microsoft announcement that mainstream support for TFS 2010 will end on July 4, 2015 could be a reason to start planning your migration sooner than later. TFS 2010 won’t stop working on July 4 but it does primarily mean that non-security related support will end. For a quick glance at TFS 2013 and VSO feature and services comparison, check out this following image. All the blocks within the arches are common between both TFS and VSO. The services in the purple arch are specific to TFS while the blue arch contains services specific to VSO.

In case you’re wondering the next release of TFS, the next pre-release of TFS 2015 will be “go-live”, which means that you can use it in Production. The current CTP (TFS 2015 CTP1) does not have “go-live” support. To learn a bit more about what’s to come in TFS 2015, attend our free webinar on March 17, 2015.
